A cultural jewel on the campus of Stanford University, this
premier arts destination showcases 5,000 years of art history
from ancient China to the 21st century. A favorite with
art enthusiasts and “thinkers” the Cantor also features one
of the largest displays of Rodin sculptures outside of Paris.
The Cantor Arts Center is a welcoming and accessible repository
of culture with a wide range of changing exhibitions
and docent tours, lectures, gallery talks, symposia, classes,
other temptations include green tea, strawberry and pumpkin.
Last year the company released its first new ice cream product
in 20 years; called Chips-It, with chocolate chip instead of oatmeal
cookies and without the chocolate coating.
According to local lore, the homegrown treat was invented in
San Francisco’s amusement park of yesteryear, Playland by the
Beach, back in 1928, when George Whitney wedged a scoop of vanilla
ice cream between oatmeal cookies and dipped it in chocolate.
When crowds tasted the concoction, they declared, “It’s It!”
And the rest is savory sweet history.
When Playland met a fiery demise in the early 1970s, operations
and special events. Many of the grand and elegant museum’s
exhibits are free and open to the public.
The adjacent Anderson Collection is one of the world’s
most prestigious private assemblies of modern and contemporary
American art and includes key pieces from de
Kooning, Diebenkorn and more. So don your beret and
bring an open mind to view some of the world’s great
masterpieces right here in our backyard.
relocated to a small shop in San Francisco’s SoMa district
and the company relocated to an even larger facility in 1976.
The fan base continues to grow, with guidebooks including it
in “must do” Bay Area lists and TV shows like the Food Network's
"Unwrapped" spotlighting it. In order to keep up with the public’s
craving for the icy delicacy, It’s It opened a Factory Shop near SFO
(865 Burlway Road, Burlingame), and it has become a popular destination
for Bay Area locals and visitors alike.
If you don’t have time to trek to the factory, you can ship yourself
an entire case of 25, or track them down in Costcos, Walmarts,
 and artisanal grocery stores.
