Jackson Hole was again voted the top winter resort in the U.S. by Forbes Magazine. And yet despite its accolades, Jackson has managed to avoid the glitz of towns like Aspen or Park City (perhaps it’s the film festivals) while becoming a superlative ski and summertime destination. As Arizonans it’s a vacation destination worth considering. Summer weather averages compare to our perfect spring; 36 holes on any given day in August is not such an infernal idea. Add in trips to the Tetons or Yellowstone, mountain biking, hiking, fly fishing, or rafting and there’s something for everyone in the family. When you’ve had your fill of the wild side, mosey into town where an eclectic mix of shopping and dining has everything from family friendly places, to cutting edge culinary art, or to the classic cowboy-lux Snake River Grill. Buying in Jackson Hole “It’s a great legacy play,” say Julie Faupel, Owner and Associate Broker with Jackson Hole Real Estate Associates. She explains that Wyoming’s favorable tax climate makes it an especially good location for long-term investment. Wyoming’s tax code mirrors Jackson’s easy going, laissez-faire character. No estate tax, no income tax, and no corporate tax. Not to mention 97 percent of the area is currently owned by a conservancy trust. Donating your land to the trust can favorably impact your tax situation while preserving the land for your future generations. According to Ms. Faupel, this kind of conservation keeps the town and the views from overcrowding, the market slightly favoring sellers (at present), and has driven an eight percent average annual appreciation rate over the last 30 years. Prices have recovered from the ‘08 crash, and with direct flights from 13 markets (including tech money meccas like San Francisco and Seattle), there is good reason to be optimistic about leaving your next generation not only with a lifetime of good memories but also the means to continue making more of them. Dramatically poised 800 feet above the valley floor, this oneof a-kind, contemporary mountain residence is a combination of sophisticated elegance and enduring beauty surrounded by nature. Situated in one of Jackson Hole's most exclusive enclaves, built into the hillside and completely protected from the elements, amidst a mature aspen and sagebrush foliage and conserved open space, this modern contemporary home is a dramatic interplay of imported Kota stone from India, concrete and glass. Built in 2001 and crafted to exacting standards, this 6,489 square foot home combines the best of the Frank Lloyd Wright style in a western environment with state-of-the-art convenience.
