“Choices of interior design in a space evoke an emotional response,” said Tony Sutton, president and owner of Est Est Inc. “Your home can influence a psychological emotional reaction for what the room is intended. Bedrooms reflect a spa, Zen-like feel, while a game room has colors and furnishings that denote high energy and entertainment.” Sutton has been in the interior design industry for 38 years. He recounts that back in the late 1970’s, wallpaper was made of primarily organic, natural fiber materials. “In today’s world, there is a paradigm shift in design in general,” he comments. “Where design preference was 15 percent contemporary in the recent past, it has jumped to 75 percent. This new infusion of fresh perspective has had major impacts on the wall-covering segment too. There are a variety of innovative - and more tangible - ways to use synthetic materials to look like their natural counterparts.” Design styles change direction, literally, and the visual focus when people walk into a space – whether it is treatment to ceilings, walls, accent walls, or a fireplace. In fact, Sutton just completed an installation to a dramatic fireplace that mimics the look and texture of metal, but is actually wallpaper. "Modern wall coverings have come a long way in the last few decades. What is described as wallpaper may no longer actually be made from paper."
