Technology allows Sutton to produce high-end wall panels such as micro thin pieces of slate attached to fiberglass, and the application works with paper-thin exotic woods for coverings on walls and ceilings that replicate the beauty and detail of wood grain. Computer generated machines give precision and accuracy to the construction of wallpaper, even when using delicate materials like seashell abalone and mother of pearl. “There is an amazing range of materials,” Sutton states. “We have used acrylic panels in a bedroom that creates an optical illusion of expensive onyx that, when backlit, generates significant drama. Being imaginative with materials allows us to more fully take advantage of lighting techniques.” Designer wallpaper and wall covering options are so innovative and original, that the design is now a means of artistic expression – whether a focal point in a room, or one element in a harmonious visual statement.
