Strictly Beauty by SARA CHAPPELLET Heidi Baron Godoff, a former fashion editor from Manhattan, exudes beauty through her passion and creativity for fashion and style. Her family relocated to Napa Valley a few years ago; simple Chic previous to that, she spent several years living in Paris, where she became inspired by the effortless-looking “less is more” philosophy so inherent in French women. A die-hard Francophile, she extends this sensibility to her style – a pop of yellow color on her trimmed nails, very little makeup, striped shirts as frequently worn by Jean Seberg, Heidi’s muse. Keeping it simple means having a few really well-designed pieces so as not to be overdone, a neutral palette adding a pop of color. Her careers have included senior fashion editor for Mirabella magazine, creative director for Kirnazabete.com, and director of consumer marketing for Swanson Vineyards. Living through her first rainy winter in the Napa Valley, Heidi found herself drawn to the local yarn shop for color, design and creativity. She became obsessed with knitting and felting. Since then she has launched her amazingly popular handbag line, HBG. Her website is expanding to include her curated view of Haute BoHo made and found pieces (www.hautebohemiangroupe.com). Heidi’s short pixie hair style was inspired by Jean Seberg, the American actress in Goddard’s 1960s French avant garde film Breathless. For maintenance she has used Phyto for years, but also likes Rene Furterer Okara and the Moroccan Oil line. She likes to play with color to change things up. A frequent donner of edgy hats, she tells me that “hat hair is sometimes a good thing.” The cut is choppy and looks great sleek, but is usually mussed to a perfect funky finish. For skincare, Heidi admits she was born with great skin and didn’t do much for it for years except stay out of the sun. She prefers to go with a spray tan about twice per month with Liz Kashani at Heaven and Earth with a light-to-medium color, not too dark. She uses the Obaji regime and loves Murad Skin Perfecting Primer, a BB, to diffuse imperfections. To pull off this simplified low maintenance look, Heidi keeps her brows groomed and 36 www. n A PAVA L L E Y L I F E magaz ine . c o m brows and lashes tinted. “Brows are very important to the shape of the face,” she says. Heidi rarely wears eye shadow, and with tinted lashes rarely wears mascara. She does wear lipstick and also puts it on her cheeks for a flush rush of blush. Pearl Wonderful Clothing is now carrying 29 Cosmetics lip pouches, and she has been enjoying that. We couldn’t be more excited to see Heidi regularly at Heaven and Earth to be inspired by her chic taste-making style. She clearly loves her life and always has the best beauty accessory—a twinkle in her eye. Sara Chappellet is a creative entrepreneur and currently owner of Heaven and Earth.
