Financing for First-time Homebuyers
San Pablo EDC offers the Federal Home Loan Bank
(FHLB) of San Francisco’s Workforce Initiative Subsidy
for Homeownership (WISH) program providing
4-to-1 matching grant of up to $22,000 to qualified
low-income first-time homebuyers, thanks to FHLB
member bank, Mechanics Bank.
Culture of Health
The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation awarded
San Pablo a Culture of Health Prize for its focus on
expanding access to healthy activities for all ages in
combination with its commitment to creating opportunity
for everyone to participate in the local economy.
The community input along with a thoughtful approach
on community-oriented policing mean San
Pablo invests in safe communities, workforce training
and its youth.
The new San Pablo Library hosts free programs,
summer meals, and financial literacy workshops.
The City of San Pablo partners with the County to expand
staffing and hours seven days per week. Score
coffee and deals on fresh fruits, vegetables & grocery
staples at the in-library café, Prime Time Nutrition.
San Pablo PD partners with San Pablo EDC to host
school assemblies where students discuss better access
to books, and how literacy affects career opportunities.
They also explore careers in public safety
and their relationship with, and impressions of, the
police. Kaiser Permanente and Travis Credit Union
provided funding to deliver hundreds of fiction and
non-fiction books to local schools.
Complete Streets
Year around, you will see continued improvement of
city streets - adding sidewalks, medians, improved
crossings and traffic calming. The City has a committed
Public Works department regularly maintaining
streets to make navigating San Pablo a smoother experience.
Technology & Safety
San Pablo PD is committed to enhancing quality of
life and reducing crime through focus in three main
areas: Community Engagement, Progressive Training
and Technology.
San Pablo PD is proud of the public safety technology
they use. With the support of the San Pablo community
and city leadership, PD has deployed a comprehensive
camera system and gunshot detection
software throughout the community. Last year, San
Pablo PD deployed Star Chase, which uses mobile
GPS units that can attach to a fleeing vehicle to reduce
high-speed pursuits on wanted felony vehicles.
New Fire Station 70
In April, the Contra Costa Fire District broke ground
in San Pablo on a new fire station that will feature a
mobile unit with advanced technology.
