Saved from bulldozers by passionate volunteers and civic leaders, these orchards are worth seeking out. San Jose’s 3.3-acre Historic Orchard features more than 200 fruit and nut trees. Sunnyvale combines its 10-acre apricot orchard with an interpretive display area and museum. Saratoga’s mixed orchard is the site of the city’s annual Blossom Festival in March. In Los Altos, the beloved apricot orchard behind City Hall and the library is the inspiration for a town mascot named “Apricot Annie.” n
