Specialty and classic burgers with THE GRAPEVINE As the weather warms up, so does the schedule of wine events in and near the South Bay. It’s the perfect time to relax and enjoy the bevvy of entertaining and delicious events wineries are offering. Chaminade Resort and Spa (1 Chaminade Lane, Santa Cruz) is celebrating local wineries through its Farm to Table Wine Dinners this summer. From 6 to 9 p.m., Friday, June 9, the resort is featuring wines from the Summit to the Sea Wine Trail, including Burrell School, Loma Prieta and Wrights Station. Chef Nicholas Church and his culinary team craft the five-course menu to showcase the region’s abundance of fruits and vegetables, pairing dishes with each wine. On Friday, July 7, the dinner features wines from Cinnabar Winery. Tickets are $110 and must be purchased in advance; information available through chaminade.com. Flatbreads and pizzas made by local chefs in an outdoor oven paired with great wines is the draw at Regale Winery (24040 Summit Road, Los Gatos). The winery uses cuttings of oak from its estate to fuel the oven, adding to the deliciousness. The Wood-Fired Summer Series is held in a garden sanctuary, noon to 4 p.m., Sunday, June 25. Wine tasting is $10, food is additional. Tickets are available through regalewine.com. The event repeats July 30. Is any South Bay summer complete without the Los Altos Arts and Wine Festival? The Los Altos Village Association transforms the city’s downtown into the largest two-day midsummer event in the Bay Area, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, July 8, and Sunday, July 9. Select vintages are available by the glass from local wineries, as well as a wide array of foods. Artisans from a dozen states make the trip to share their creations, and top local bands provide live music. Explore the wonders of mountain wineries during Santa Cruz Mountains Passport Day, Saturday, July 15. Passports purchased for $55 are good for up to two years, to be used during any Passport Day, held four times a year. More than 50 wineries participate in these special days.
