JUNE 9–JULY 14 Cupertino Summer Concert Series Pack a picnic for this joyous outdoor music series that takes place Thursdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m. THE FOG CITY SWAMPERS perform classic rock covers on June 9, followed by the Irish folk group PLASTIC PADDY BAND on June 16. Beatles fans will get a kick out of the cover band STRAWBERRY SOULS on June 23. Then, on July 7, Extra Large will perform its signature blend of funk and reggae. Each band performs twice per night, at 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. On June 24, BLUE ÖYSTER CULT takes the stage for an evening of classic hits. July 15 brings Santana original lead singer GREGG ROLIE, Aug. 5 hosts Y&T and on Aug. 19, SMASH MOUTH will rock the night away. JUNE 19–AUG. 21 Stern Grove Festival The 79th Stern Grove Festival kicks off with THE BIG PICNIC on June 19, featuring a free performance by Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter JANELLE MONÁE. Local soul and funk band MIDTOWN SOCIAL opens the show. Following the kick-off event, admission-free concerts will take place every Sunday at 2 p.m. through Aug. 21 at the outdoor amphitheater, located at 19th Avenue and Sloat Boulevard in San Francisco. JUNE 22–AUG. 24 Jazz on the Plazz Spend hot summer nights in Los Gatos honoring Duke Ellington. Providing their take on the Ellington Songbook will be an array of jazz artists, including NICOLAS BEARDE (July 13), TIERNEY SUTTON (July 20), BRIA SKONBERG (July 27), PAULA WEST (Aug. 3) and BOOKER T.
