FOOD LOVERS GUIDE byPam Marino WHEN T.J. MILLER WON A CRITICS’ CHOICE AWARD LAST JUNE for his portrayal of an obnoxious entrepreneur on HBO’s “Silicon Valley,” he was first seen stuffing his mouth with food as his name was announced. A cool gag, and an inside joke: Miller was spoofing the media cliché that techies live on nothing but mounds of Doritos, Hot Pockets, Easy Cheese and Ritz crackers. ¶ The truth is much more tempting, and delicious. Today’s SV innovators and wired warriors, from programmer to CEO, thrive on a vast range of brain fuel from exotic buttermilk quail and waffle to comforting osso bucco, slowly braised. ¶ As Valley Twitter fodder, food choices now vie with the latest red-hot startup scuttlebutt. Along with all the tech buzz, we can’t wait to share a large, fresh portion of our latest eating experience—what, when and where, appendaged with showcase photos. ¶ Eager to assist, we set out on an impossible task, to create the ultimate A–Z Food Guide for all things edible—that is, worth eating— in the South Bay. A noble yet foolish undertaking, perhaps, but why be timid? This time around we even upped the ante by including profiles of some interesting food people and we spotlighted a smattering of trends as well. Hungry for more? READ ON.
