FEB. 14 February/March 2015 11 All About That Meghan Meghan Trainor’s up-tempo tune “All About That Base” immediately became a best-selling hit last summer. Fans were thrilled when her second and third singles, “Lips Are Movin’” and “Dear Future Husband,” came out soon thereafter. On Feb. 16, the 21-year-old Massachusetts native brings her peppy sound to San Francisco. The singer songwriter, who spent two summers at Berklee College of Music working on her craft, will demonstrate why her unique fusion of pop and doo-wop has gained so much positive attention — and earned her a Grammy nomination for song of the year. See if she wins the award on Feb. 8 and then watch her live eight days later in San Francisco. Tickets $25. The Fillmore, 1805 Geary Blvd., San Francisco. 800/745-3000. Circus Reinvented Man manipulates machine on March 22 in “Pedal Punk,” a captivating show by Cirque Mechanics. Formed 10 years ago by daredevil BMX biker and German Wheel artist Chris Lashua, this circus differs from others in large part because of its emphasis on mechanical devices. Spectators can’t help but sit transfixed while absorbing the acrobatics that take place on trampolines, penny-farthings, and other wheeled wonders, including a 22-foot-tall contraption called the “Gantry Bike.” Of course, there are plenty of jugglers, contortionists and handstand artists in the show as well. Plan for a fun afternoon when this clever circus rolls onto the stage at Stanford. Tickets $25-$45. Memorial Auditorium, 551 Serra Mall, Stanford University. 650/724-2464.
