The thing that still gets me is how everything can change in Nepal. You can be sweating and pouring water all over yourself to escape the heat and humidity in one area, but if you drive eight hours north you’ll be putting on a couple of layers and a heavy coat to stay warm. While I was trekking, I was amazed at how quiet it was. The contrast between Kathmandu and hiking was unreal. I loved it. You could hear the animals scurrying away as they heard your footsteps, or you could listen to the gentle breeze sweep through all of the trees. This contrast is what makes Nepal such a great place, because anyone can find their niche. Nepal is the kind of place you won’t visit only once. There is just too much to do. I still would like to go back and revisit Kathmandu, Chitwan, and go see Everest. I only saw a little bit of Nepal, but the little bit that I saw was amazing, and I want to experience the other facets of this country. On this trip, I learned that I have been ignorant of how lucky I am to live in a country where I don’t have to worry about water or food. I don’t have to go to the water pump, then boil it so that I won’t get sick. I cannot count the amount of times that our schedule wasn’t important to the locals, and they had to take their smoke breaks. I didn’t mind. I got to appreciate a whole new side of culture and got to really experience Nepal. If you are thinking of going to Nepal, but you aren’t sure if you’ll have a good time, you will. You’ll get to experience a whole different side of people, and the world, and you will not regret it.
