Palmer Houseuilt in 1871 by Judge A.C. Palmer, this house is one of the few examples style in Napa Valley, and one of only two in Calistoga. It bears the distinction of be- ing Calistoga’s first structure listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The home has a colorful history, having started as a grand home, and later used for business— most recently as a B & B. The current owners purchased the home in 2009, and painstak- ingly restored the three-storied home to its former glory, as a private residence Around the corner is the Brambles, a Judge A.C. Palmer House Victorian home built in 1886, also used as a B & B in the past, and now a private residence. In remodeling their home, the owners found many interesting items such as an old beer bottle left between the studs, various layers of wallpaper, a mummified bird, some original flooring, an old axe and a newspaper dated The Brambles 1892. A small museum in the upstairs hallway displays the found relics. 46 W W W . N A P A v A L L E Y L I F E M A g A z I N E . C O M The Brambles
