These performing arts concerts and festival events have tickets available for individual purchase: Friday, July 12th Audra McDonald at Castello Di Amarosa The Festival kicks off in Calistoga with this legendary Broadway vocalist who boasts a recordtying five Tony Awards, and 2 Grammy Awards. Saturday, July 13th Thibaudet and Russian National Orchestra at the Lincoln Theatre As part of the Rachmaninov 140th Birthday celebration, the Russian National Orchestra will perform the composer’s Second Symphony. Thibaudet, an accomplished pianist, has performed for over 30 years, recorded over 40 albums and was inducted in the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame in 2010. Saturday, July 13th Taste of Napa at the Napa Valley Country Club This event features fine food, wine and silent auction. Wednesday, July 17th Happy Birthday, Sergei Rachmaninov! Expect to see Nina Kotova on cello, Vladimir Viardo on piano, soprano Elena Maximova and fantastic wine in your glass during the preshow reception. Thursday, July 18th Sarah Chang at Castello Di Amarosa Regarded as one of the world’s best violinists, Chang has been playing at a professional level for over 20 years and has been amazing audiences all over the world in the process. Friday, July 19th Dede Wilsey Dance Series performs Rachmaninov’s lost ballet Paganini at the Lincoln Theatre. Featuring principal dancers from Ballet San Jose, San Francisco Ballet and American Ballet Theater. To get excited about the show, check out the exclusive exhibit at Napa Valley Museum featuring materials uncovered during the ballet’s restoration. Sunday, July 21st Opera Gala—Russian National Orchestra accompanies BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Ekaterina Scherbachenko at Lincoln Theatre. • There will also be a special performance Tuesday, July 16th at Sonoma State University featuring Russian National Orchestra, Sarah Chang and Jean-Yves Thibaudet with tickets available through gmc.sonoma.edu/events MORE EVENTS T he Festival is offering a magnificent line-up of VIP events at wineries throughout the Napa Valley. VIP Vintners Luncheons and Dinners promise unique experiences by mixing live performances and fabulous food. • Darioush and Bouchaine Vineyards have partnered to provide a special evening honoring Persian and Russian dynasties. With the spectacular architecture, exotic Persian music and phenomenal Russian cuisine, guests will be taken on a journey of the senses. • Another notable event is the VIP dinner at Far Niente featuring Jessye Norman. The prolific soprano sang at the second inaugurations of both Reagan and Clinton, has played Carnegie Hall and was recently honored with a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. • Included in the festival VIP Pass are a Great Gatsby-inspired Gala at Meadowood, Yoga in the Vineyards, the 24-Hour Plays event featuring Hollywood actors, wellness events, and much more.
