The Giving • Auction Napa Valley has given more than $110 million to healthcare, youth education and affordable housing since 1981. • In 2012, the NVV announced a new, strategic giving approach for Auction proceeds, funding community health and children’s education more deeply to fulfill the goal of focusing resources on efforts where the Auction can make the most meaningful difference. • What’s raised in Napa stays in Napa: 100% of the proceeds from Auction Napa Valley are donated to local non-profits. • At a time when government is slashing health and human services funding, the Napa Valley wine community is coming together to tackle some of the country’s most crucial social issues on a local level, impacting the lives of individuals and families in a uniquely positive and collaborative way. The Event • The Napa Valley Vintners (NVV) non-profit trade association is the organizer of Auction Napa Valley. • The Auction’s mission since inception: “To utilize the worldwide reputation of Napa Valley wines to enhance the well-being of the Napa County community.” • 2013 is the 33rd annual Auction Napa Valley. • The theme is “The American Wine Classic.” • There are three ticket packages for 2013: the Complete Auction Experience at $2,500 per person; for the first time, the NVV is offering a Saturday-only ticket package, the Perfect Day in Napa Valley at $1,500; Friday at the Auction includes the Napa Valley Barrel Auction plus a Friday evening Vintner-Hosted Dinner. Tickets for Friday’s Barrel Auction will go on sale April 15 at $500 each. • Nearly 2,000 guests are expected at the Napa Valley Barrel Auction on Friday and 800 will attend the Live Auction on Saturday. • Vintners will open their homes and wineries for 40 private dinner events on Thursday and Friday nights. • Approximately 500 community volunteers donate their time each year to ensure the event’s success. The Vintners and Their Wines • More than 350 NVV member wineries will support this year’s Auction, whether donating a lot, hosting a party, providing serving wine for the weekend or making a financial contribution during the event. • Participating wineries range in size from vintners producing as few as 100 cases per year to those making more than one million cases annually. • 95% of Napa Valley wineries are family owned. • Dozens of the vintners are also successful Auction bidders, supporting this fundraiser in every possible manner. The Lots • 100 Barrel Auction lots (10 cases of wine per lot), more than 150 E-Auction Lots and more than 40 “Firsts, Favorites and Far Away Places” wine, cellar collection and wine experiences will be offered in the Live Auction; all lots can be viewed at www.auctionnapavalley.org.
