Tim Howe, Chateau Montelena Kristine Pallas, Silverado Vineyards Tower Poster exhibition at Silverado Vineyards M A R C H / A P R I L 2 0 1 3 55 style and fashion, inspiring the fashion section of Rolling Stone magazine as well as promoting a new cultural appreciation of individuality. This show will be on display April 1 – June 30, and will be the U.S. debut of “The Groupies,” which previously showed in London. In addition, Wolman will be signing his latest book, Every Picture Tells a Story / Baron Wolman / The Rolling Stone Years. The show will appear alongside the already-running “The Covers Show,” a collection of original Wolman photographs of rock icons, including Janis Joplin, Mick Jagger, Jimi Hendrix, Jerry Garcia, Pete Townsend, George Harrison and more. This exhibition showcases numerous Rolling Stone magazine covers shot by Mr. Wolman beginning in 1965. “The Covers Show” runs until the end of the year. Stags’ Leap Winery will host the work of artist Seth Indigo Carnes in an exhibition titled “Vernacular.” Carnes is a Napa Valley local, recently spending years in New York developing his craft. After returning to live and create in Healdsburg, he responded to a call for an Artist-In-Residence position at Stags’ Leap Winery. There he drew inspiration for his mixed-media creations from the beauty and serenity of the land. The Arts In April showcase will exhibit his “mixture of found/made objects, capturing a sudden transformation from city to rural, east to west, and an immersion into localized experience, thought and landscapes.” (www.sic.ph) Silverado Vineyards will feature two shows, including one of Belle Epoque posters featuring the work of Leonetto Cappiello and other artists. Arts In April celebrates the premier of the second exhibit, one by noted plein air artist Kristine Pallas with new works capturing shadow, reflected light and fleeting outdoor lighting. (www.kristinepallas.com) Punctuating the month’s activities are a host of weekend art openings and events, beginning with the opening reception of “Napa Valley Collects” on April 4 at the Napa Valley Museum, a selection of works on loan from vintners and friends, with work from artists such as Cy Twombly. Additional weekend events include Calistoga Art Center’s “Ekphrasis,” a photography and mixed media exhibition opening on April 13, a multimedia concert by Mars Lasar entitled “Angels of the Valley” on April 19, and Ma(i)sonry’s “Awaken” opening April 19.
