GOING Green NAPA VALLEY BUSINESS SPOt LIGHT by the Napa County Green Business Program AUBERGE DU SOLEIL Auberge du Soleil is proud to be the first resort in the Napa County certified through the Bay Area Green Business Program (in 2008, and re-certified in 2012). Auberge seeks to achieve balance between the luxury element of the property and its impact on the environment. Between 2008 and 2011 ithe staff cut waste sent to the landfill by half. In 2013 they reduced it by an additional fifty percent, in large part due to participation in the Upper Valley Disposal’s food composting program. Auberge also closely monitors its energy and water consumption and is constantly looking for ways to improve its operations. Over the years they have cultivated vital partnerships allowing for them to communicate their stewardship message, effect positive environmental change, and raise awareness of their guests and colleagues. Investing in the Napa Valley provides them with the opportunity to give back to those who support Auberge du Soleil. In June of 2010 Auberge began raising funds for the Napa Valley Vine Trail. Auberge du Soleil also participates in many community events (like Earth Day shown above) and with groups such as the Napa County Local Food Advisory Council and the Napa County Land Trust. Auberge is also committed to mentoring the younger generation, and participates in the Adopt a School Program with Northwood Elementary School.
