For more information visit nps.gov/rori/index.htm or Rosietheriveter.net. 13: Point to Point Richmond Art Festival This pop up inspired event is in its second year and will be featuring works from the artistic community from throughout the Bay Area. “It is kind of an in-your-face visual arts, music and performance event,” said Javens. “It’s really a collaboration between artists, musicians and businesses.” The event boasts an easy going organic feel and flow; businesses do not have to sign up or pay to participate. A merchant simply puts a big red dot on their storefront on the day of the event to show they are participating. Visitors can connect the dots all over the pedestrian friendly Point Richmond neighborhood while exploring the art. The event will take place throughout the Point neighborhood from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. For more information visit pt2ptrichmond.com. 20: Richmond Juneteenth Parade & Festival A wonderful mix of history and culture, the Juneteenth holiday is a celebration of the emancipation of slavery in American. This year’s parade will begin at the corner of Cutting Boulevard and Marina Way South, and will proceed to Nicholl Park where the party continues. Festival goers will delight in the two stages of entertainment with shows by local drill teams, African American horse riders, the Wells Fargo Stage Coach, a “Nae Nae” dance contest and a youth poetry slam, to name a few. Rounding out the celebration will be an array of ethnic foods and goods will be available from local venders. The parade and festival will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., admission is free. There will be work from all media from painting and sculpture to ceramics and woodwork, to fine and affordable jewelry, glasswork and photography, beautiful unique goods for the home and the body as well as a glorious assortment of gifts.
