The ambience is bright and cheery, and the general feel is casual and friendly. menu boards are posted listing the many confections available, as well as other items sold there, including beverages, espresso drinks, and hot Panini sandwiches. Good Butter Bakery’s signature product is the “Croissonut”, a combination of a doughnut and a croissant, drizzled with a variety of flavorful toppings, such as vanilla Almond, maple Bacon, Lemon Glaze, Caramel, and Cinnamon Sugar. unlike cronuts, which originated in new York, Good Butter’s croissonuts are baked versus fried, and are therefore not greasy. Croissonuts are square in shape (to reduce waste in production), and have the traditional doughnut hole cut out of the middle. The croissonut holes are sold at Good Butter Bakery, and sell out very quickly each day. my guest and I tried the Lemon Glaze and maple Bacon flavored croissonuts. of the two, we both preferred the lemon, but agreed that the maple bacon would be perfect for bacon lovers due to the bacon bits on top. The treats were light and flaky like a croissant, and flavorful but not extremely sweet. Currently, an average of 4 to 6 dozen croissonuts is sold daily at Good Butter Bakery, but the demand is steadily increasing. With so many years of experience in the business, Paul has a seemingly endless repertoire of baked goods confections that can be prepared and offered to their customers. unfortunately, it is impossible to make and carry each of these at the bakery every day. The standard menu includes a static array of items that are customer favorites; however, new items are occasionally introduced to secure customer feedback and gauge popularity. In addition to the croissonuts, we had the opportunity to try many of the standard offerings, including Turtle Brownies, Fresh Fruit Tarts, Lemon Bars, Coconut Dream Bars, Brown Sugar Shortbread, Tiger Brownies, oatmeal Carmelitas, and Lemon Pistachio Shortbread. I can honestly say that neither I nor my guest tried any item that wasn’t simply delicious! my favorites were the lemon bar and the oatmeal carmelita, both of which are made with cookie bar crusts. The lemon bars are light and flaky, with a lemon cream filling that has a rich flavor that is not overly sweet like many lemon bars tend to be. Similarly, the oatmeal carmelita has a flavorful cakey center with caramel and oatmeal topping, which tastes divine, but again, is not too sweet. The fruit tarts are topped with fresh kiwi, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries and strawberries, and have creamy custard filling in a flaky crust. I would be remiss if I didn’t tell you how wonderful the shortbreads are! The brown sugar shortbread is thick and more “cakey” than shortbread cookies I am accustomed to, but still reigns as our favorite of the shortbreads. The lemon pistachio shortbread and the mexican Wedding cookies are both light and flaky melt-in-your mouth treats that will keep you coming back for more! After tasting so many sumptuous treats in one sitting, my guest and I were on sugar overload! A hot Panini sandwich was just what we needed to curb the sugar rush, so Paul made us a Turkey Pesto melt which we shared, and two hot cups of moschetti brand cappuccino. The sandwich was made with fresh turkey breast, spinach, tomato and Swiss cheese and was prepared fresh using the in-house Panini maker. Good Butter Bakery offers four freshly-made Panini selections, which are a great value for only $6.25 each. In addition to cappuccino, Good Butter also offers macchiatos, mochas, Lattes, and Espressos, as well as traditional coffee and a selection of cold beverages and water. Good Butter Bakery is the perfect place to stop to pick up a morning pastry, or purchase a box of treats to take to your workplace. But what you see is not all that you get at this bakery! Paul and Carlo can bake special orders of most any type of cake, pie or other pastry with just 24-hour notice. THE LLorEnTE FAmILY (LEFT: PAuL AnD FrAnCESCA; rIGHT: BLESS AnD CArLo)
