T he gopher snake was not happy, and for good reason. Maybe it was curiosity that made him stick his head through the hole of a thick, round irrigation valve box lid, or maybe his next meal darted inside and he blindly followed without thinking. But for whatever reason he entered, became tightly wedged in, could not back out and was very perturbed. The trapped snake might have suffered and died, but a Good Samaritan found him and took him to the best place in the South Bay for orphaned, ill or injured wild birds and animals: the Wildlife Center of Silicon Valley.
