Of course not—until we reach for our repellent or other essentials and discover them missing in action. To keep everyone healthy and happy, here’s a basics check list: Hydrate with water, not beer or any other alcoholic beverage, all of which dehydrate your body. Pack a first-aid kit and keep it accessible; do not stash in airplane luggage where it’s out of reach and may get lost. Bring antibiotics just in case. Recommended for its purifying and internal antiseptic properties, GSE—liquid grapefruit seed extract. Check those countries’ expanded weather forecasts so you can pack accordingly. Carry hat and sunglasses. Wash hands, and use hand sanitizer often. Download the First Aid by American Red Cross app on your phone and Pet First Aid by American Red Cross app, too, if appropriate. Both are free. Check CDC.gov to read the current health warnings, if any, in the countries you are planning to visit. Bring sunscreen at least SPF 30, and apply it often. Bring bug and mosquito repellent and mosquito netting if going near water. Pack a bandana, helpful when you need to spontaneously tie or bind something up for easy transport. Check out restaurant kitchens for cleanliness before sitting down to eat. Avoid street food from any vendors, stands or carts. Purchase travel insurance and medical travel insurance before your trip.
