South Bay Accent - Jun/Jul 2015

June/July 2015 37 “It is critical to have chemistry with one’s clients. I believe everyone sees color and design unique to their likes and dislikes,” she says. “It is my job to identify those preferences and apply good design principals to achieve a custom design that is timeless, unique and functional.” Riera found inspiration in the design and architecture that surrounded her during her time living in Paris in the late 1980s and early ’90s, and that experience moved her to pursue her dream. “I fell in love with the huge antique market, Clignancourt, in the north of Paris,” she recalls, “as well as the Saint Germain district for art, fabrics and unique accessories.” Upon returning to the Bay Area, Riera worked with a well-known South Bay designer, resulting in the start of her own business. With today’s technologies and her love for travel, Riera is able to find products and unique materials from all over the world. On her treks overseas, she will seek out local sources, purchase products and incorporate distinctive items by handcrafted artisans from the U.S., Asia, Europe and Africa. A member of the American Society of Interior Designers and the National Kitchen and Bath Association, she serves clients and projects across the Bay Area, as well as in Central California and Nevada. Whether it’s simple or complex, old world or contemporary, Riera Design and Interiors will discover the perfect home harmony.
