A special program for preschoolers allows young learners to celebrate summer with art, music and STEM classes, while children in grades K–5 may partake in Summer Camp+, which teaches core curriculum. The Summer Institute provides rigorous for-credit and non-credit academics for students in grades 6–12, and many youth travel to San Jose to learn or improve English skills at the English Language Institute. Activity choices include sports, art, and robotics and a non-competitive swim school is also available for those who want to hone their swimming abilities. Held at the Nueva School’s beautiful, 34-acre, Hillsborough campus, the camp program strives to provide campers with a fun and rewarding opportunity to find new passions and explore existing interests with depth and complexity. The highly acclaimed school offers nearly 10 daily options in the core camp program and hs extensive offerings at all grade levels. Nueva educators lead middle school intensives in topics as varied as fractals, debate and artisan bookmaking, and this year marks the debut of Nueva Expedition, a brand new program for first through fourth grade campers to learn and gain skills in an interdisciplinary exploration.  Sierra School Santa Clara, sierraschool.com “Sizzling Summer at Sierra” features four two-week themed camp sessions that balance academics and recreation, including “DIY,” where campers design and craft jewelry, build birdhouses and create colorful tie dye clothing, “Adventure Skills,” which teaches kids how to survive in the wilderness, “Rocks Rock,” a geology-focused program, and ”Wild West,” an opportunity for students to travel back in time to learn about our region’s history through fun activities like square-dancing and cowboy poetry. Morning sessions focus on reading, writing, and math, while afternoons are dedicated to creativity-sparking play including drama, art, music, sports, and cooking.
