Be sure to check the calendar at thetech.org (under Plan Your Visit), or call The Tech at 408/294-8324 to confirm dates and learn about newly scheduled events. The Tech Challenge NOW-MAY 1   Just Wing It! Learn about the properties of flight by creating and testing flying contraptions in The Tech Studio. From shark fins to glider wings, discover which shapes and forms are most aerodynamic and can create lift. APRIL 1   “Hubble” This IMAX film chronicles the challenges and triumphs of spacewalking astronauts trying to repair the Hubble Space Telescope. APRIL 12   Creative Collisions: Bio + Hacking Creative Collisions is an evening series that explores the intersection of two topics. This evening will focus on biology as a technology, and give an inside look at The Tech’s new exhibit, BioDesign Studio. APRIL 16   3D Printing for Beginners Workshop Learn the basics of 3D design with TinkerCAD, and receive a print of your creation. Seating is limited, and pre-registration is required. APRIL 2 3–24  The Tech Challenge This annual team design challenge for students introduces and reinforces the science and engineering design process with a Social Robots hands-on project geared to solving a real-world problem. These two days are the finale of the months-long program. This year’s theme is Taking Flight. APRIL 30  “Journey to Space” Learn about past achievements and present activities in space, and plans for possible future explorations to Mars, in this IMAX documentary narrated by Patrick Stewart. MAY 7   Girls Day @ The Tech Girls of all ages—along with their brothers and parents—are invited to a day of hands-on STEM learning at The Tech, sponsored by the Junior League of Palo Alto-Mid Peninsula. MAY 7   Creative Collisions: Scenes + Screens Creative Collisions is an evening series that explores the intersection of two topics. This event will focus on filmmaking. MAY 19   “Forces of Nature” This IMAX film follows scientists on their quests to understand how natural disasters like earthquakes, volcanoes and severe storms are triggered.
