RESTAURANT Two chefs, one vision: great food, friendly prices! In the year since it opened, Napa Valley Bistro has become a locals’ favorite and a destination for visitors. It all began when chefs Bernardo Ayala and Ernesto Martinez decided to open a casual restaurant with friendly prices in Downtown Napa to offer classic and seasonal American cuisine “with a twist.”  The “twist” is found in their seasonal menus—from tasty appetizers like Blackened Chicken Empanadas (pictured below right), Crispy Calamari with ancho chili-lime aioli, Spicy Cajun Prawns with fresh lime, and Bosc Pear and Brie Flatbread with caramelized onions, to the bountiful main courses featuring Blue Corn Tortilla Crusted Halibut with sweet corn, leek and shitake succotash, Rosie Organic Fried Chicken with mashed potatoes and house-made jalapeño cornbread, and Meyer Ranch Grilled Flat Iron Steak with cheddar mashed potatoes and sautéed asparagus. And there’s plenty of casual in the diner-style specials, like the Napa Smith Amber Ale Beer Battered Fish n’ Chips with slaw; Fallon Hills Sonoma Lamb Burger with rosemary aioli and house-made potato chips, Niman Ranch BBQ Pork Sandwich with molasses BBQ sauce and sweet potato fries, and a Rocky Free Range Chicken Wrap with crisp veggies. And you can’t beat the Happy Hour bar menu, where $5 will get you BBQ Pork Sliders with house slaw, Garlic Fries with Parmesan cheese, or Spicy Buffalo Wings with ranch dipping sauce.
