Why We’re Supporting the Queen Julie Allegro Every Napa resident deserves world-class health care. The V Foundation for Cancer Research was founded in 1993 by famed basketball coach Jim Valvano and ESPN with the objective of funding leading edge cancer research and treatment programs. Guided by an advisory board of top physicians and research scientists, our Foundation has to date awarded grants totaling $115 million to 120 outstanding facilities nationwide. Much of this funding is generated through special events in communities across the country. The most successful of these activities, The V Wine Celebration, takes place right here in Napa Valley. The Queen of the Valley Medical Center is one of our beneficiaries. The V Foundation’s relationship with the Queen began in 2003 when we donated $500,000 to support its groundbreaking Cancer Wellness Program. Last year, we gave an additional Let’s not waste a moment.
