Napa Valley kicks off at the end of November with a five-day schedule filled with a variety of activities to satisfy any food and wine lover’s dream. Programming for the event shines a light on the very best of the Napa Valley’s culinary artistry. Area master chefs and graduates of The Culinary Institute of America, artisanal food purveyors, vintners, growers, sommeliers, and wine educators offer a variety of demonstrations, dinners, hands-on culinary experiences and more from November 20 through 24 at various locations throughout the Napa Valley. Not to be missed among the over 40 events is The Appellation Trail: Tasting Napa Valley held on Friday, November 22, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the historic Culinary Institute of America (CIA) at Greystone in St. Helena. This grand tasting, held in the stone-walled historic former winery, is a journey into the valley’s abundant epicenter and honors all 16 Napa Valley appellations with a gathering of the best of Napa Valley’s wine and food. Throughout the evening, winemakers and chefs who make Napa Valley the premier wine and food destination in America will be showcasing their best as attendees discover how the various terroirs and micro-climates define the bounty of the region and reflect the unique expressions of where ingredients are sourced. More than 100 of Napa Valley’s renowned wineries are pouring, from top-rated boutique labels like Blackbird Vineyards, CADE Estate Winery, Gargiulo Vineyards, Pride Mountain Vineyards, Round Pond Estate, Silver Oak, and Staglin Family Vineyard, to the valley’s power players such as Cakebread, Robert Mondavi Winery, Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars, and Trefethen. Two dozen of the Napa Valley’s top restaurants and artisanal food purveyors will be on hand offering locally sourced nibbles to complement the vintages and varietals of their vintner neighbors. Participating restaurants include Redd Wood, Napa Style, Morimoto Napa, Oenotri and Solbar at Solage in Calistoga.
