MAy / J U N E 2 0 1 3 41 The Napa Farmers Market opens for the season on Saturday, May 4 and runs every Tuesday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12:30 pm (note new hours) through the end of October. Located in the northeast parking lot at Oxbow Public Market, the Farmers Market offers the best locally-grown, farm-direct produce, gourmet food and handmade crafts. The market is dedicated to the sustainability of our local environment and our local economy, and supports our farmers by providing a place for all of us to find, connect and learn about the best,
field-fresh and sustainably-grown produce, food and artisan goods available—direct from the source.
The Napa Farmers Market features chef demos each week on everything from making cheese or kraut to pickling and home tomato canning. For children, Community Resources presents Children’s Story Time. Many of the same farmers are returning this year, including Aztec Dahlias, Big Ranch Farms, Boca Farm, Full Table Farm, Gauchito Hill Farm, Morningsun Herb Farm, Taramasso Ranch, Tenbrink Farms and Vichy Farm. New additions include Cathy Curlee Flowers (gorgeous homegrown bouquets), L and J Farms (asparagus), Bloomfield Farms (luscious organic greens, herbs and vegetables), Once Upon a Farm (hard-tofind specialty vegetables), Shamrock Artisan Goat Cheese (handmade soft and hard goat cheeses), and Borchard Garden (homegrown vegetables). Always popular at the market are the food vendors and ABC Bakery, Annie the Baker, Atlas Peak Olive Oil, Mi Fiesta Catering Co., Model Bakery, Pasta Poetry, Sweetie Pies Bakery and The Hummus Guy are returning this year, as well as others. New this year are Not Yer Mama’s Granola (specialty award-winning granola), Angelina’s Family Kitchen (gourmet biscotti, both sweet and savory) Cielito Lindo (Mexican foods and desserts), Flour Chylde Bakery (gluten-free specialty desserts, cakes and tortes), Hue de Laroque Farm (fruit and pepper jams, mustards, and aged infused balsamic vinegar from off the farm), Juju’s Mediterranean Kitchen (variety of hummus dips and other foods) and La Crepe Escape (handmade sweet and savory crepes).
