WE MAKE MOVING EASY Bank of Napa’s transition team: (left to right): Cheryl Payan, Diane Bishofberger, Robert Rowen, Ruth Appleby, Lise Tarner, Ann Derr, and Michele Bair Many businesses think that changing banks will be a nightmare. That’s what Vallerga’s Market in Napa thought. “We were afraid the transition would be rough,” said Vallerga’s Market President “BUT IT WAS SEAMLESS.” Our transition team makes it very easy for you to switch your banking relationship to Bank of Napa. Stop in for a visit. You’ll see the difference right away. MAy / J U N E 2 0 1 3 9 publisher’s note Tthis month’s theme, “This Rockin’ Valley,” evokes the heart, soul and culture of our Valley. We want the world to know that the Napa Valley is not only a premier winegrowing region, but is also diversified in its cuisine, arts, wellness and entertainment. A beam of musical culture is now a growing element in the Valley, and live venues are being reborn. Even our own symphony will experience a rebirth this summer. A huge leap in the rock culture could open more doors to the Napa experience. The first-ever BottleRock Napa Valley debuts May 7 to a guarded enthusiasm due to concerns on logistics and the impact on our community, but I believe those businesses and individuals who embrace this premiere musical event will shine. There are people in the Napa Valley who are willing to step outside the box and create surprises for our community—let’s support them and help them grow. That same sentiment could have been said thirty-three years ago when the first Auction Napa Valley rocked this Valley; they have raised millions of dollars for our nonprofits. As part of our Annual Auction Napa Valley feature, we are honored to showcase Meadowood Resort, which has been the location for the live auction since the first year. Jean-Charles Boisset and his crew at Raymond Vineyards will play host to the Friday Barrel Auction, and Bravo’s Top Chef winners will dazzle attendees with their awardwinning cuisine. Many wineries will be opening their doors to special festivities during the weekend celebrations. Many people know I am an outdoor enthusiast. I love to hike and camp, but most of all I marvel at the beauty surrounding us in the North Bay. The picture Lowell Downey captured of his son Forest and his friends says it all. There is so much for young people to do in the Valley if they open their eyes and appreciate what is often taken for granted by the people who live and work here. NVL has started a young writers series. Forrest and Tyler Mecchi begin the series with their take on Long Boarding around the Valley. If you or your teenager likes to write, please email me at kari@napavalleylifemagazine.com and we may feature your take on the Napa Valley in a future issue. Peace and prosperity.
