Tarla’s chefs prepare the dinner Tarla Grill’s Winemaker Dinner Series – OPEN MAP HERE If you want to experience a truly unique blend of culinary flavors paired with wine that brings the combination to a whole new tasting level, then partake in Tarla Mediterranean Grill’s chef Michael B. Powell’s Wine Dinner Series. The fresh five course menu paired with hand-selected wines is featured the second Monday evening of each month. I attended the first two wine dinners at the popular First Street restaurant and was wowed by the presentation, the exquisite flavors and the intimate atmosphere. The January dinner was held in the newly acquired private room next door, which can accommodate up to forty people. It felt like being in someone’s living room. Grgich Hills Winemaker Ivo Jeramaz guided the guests through the flight of personally selected wines that complemented chef Powell’s exclusive culinary delights. Skepticism crossed my mind when I signed up for the second dinner with Somerston Wines and learned the dinner was sold out to 75 people. I was worried that the intimacy would be lost with the larger group, but once again the staff set up both rooms to welcome us with a warm, intimate and inviting atmosphere, and my doubt was quickly dismissed. Somerston’s Winemaker, Craig Becker, and chef Powell tantalized guests in February with an assortment of Turkish and Greek fare as well as Somerston-raised lamb paired with Becker’s unique varietals. John and Renee Lawson attended to support their daughter, Brooke, whose friends work for Somerston Wines. “This was our first introduction to Tarla,” said Renee. “The staff did an exceptional job balancing both rooms.
