OPEN MAP HERE Where the Legend Begins - St. Helena Landmark Celebrates 100 Years The Cameo Cinema in St. Helena, CA is hosting on the 15th of each month a series of events leading up to its 100th birthday on May 15, 2013. This historic art deco venue is possibly the oldest, longest running independent single screen theatre in America. Audiences have been entertained there continuously since May 15, 1913! Locals and people from all over the world come to the Cameo not only to see movies but also to participate in its many story-telling community events. As part of its birthday celebration, The Cameo will show Kings of the Forest by Selig and Company, the silent film that was screened at its opening in 1913. Ray Manzarek of “The Doors” has written a special score for this silent film and will be appearing in person and to play it. The same evening, Cameo participants will also be treated to Napa Valley Dreams, a feature documentary on the spirit and heart of Napa Valley written, produced and directed by Rodney Vance. This amazing documentary will premier at the 100th birthday celebration of The Cameo on May 15, 2013, an evening celebrating the past, present and future of cinema. There will be two screenings of Kings of the Forest and Napa Valley Dreams: A matinee, with doors opening at 2:00 and the program begining at 3:00 will include Hors o’deuvres with the $25 admission ticket. The Centennial’s evening festivities will commence at Caldwell Snyder Gallery at 7:00 PM on May 15. There, participants will be treated to Meadowood’s Michlin Star Chef Christopher Kostow’s wonderful hors o’deuvres served with an impressive selection of Napa Valley wines. Then at 8:00, they will be ushered over to the Cameo Cinema where they will view the films at 8:30. The $100 admission includes the viewing of the films, food, libations, and a signed copy (if available from the publisher) of Christopher Kostow’s new cookbook.
