The day’s events start off 11:30 am with a showing of “Wild in the Country,” which Elvis filmed right here in Napa and St. Helena in 1961 with Hope Lange and Millie Perkins. Napa Valley Opera House, 1030 Main Street, Napa. 707.226.7372. t h e b e s t o f t i m e s March 21 and 22 Napa County Historical Society & Napa County Landmarks presents: Historic Wineries Tour Please join us for two exceptional days of tours, tastings, and dining events at five of Napa Valley’s respected historic wineries: Chateau Montelena Winery, Trefethen Family Vineyards, Far Niente Winery, Beaulieu Vineyard, and Del Dotto Vineyards. These wineries are the work of Hamden W. McIntyre, often credited with designing the first gravity-flow wineries in the Valley. Highlights include wine tastings and tours at all locations and unique dining experiences. There will also be a special visit to Rutherford House, Beaulieu’s grand Craftsman residence, which is being opened especially for this tour. For lunch, Chef Christopher Kostow, winner of three Michelin stars, a rare four stars from the San Francisco Chronicle, and one of Food & Wine magazine’s Best New Chefs, will host guests at luxury resort Meadowood Napa Valley. Another lunch will also be served at Del Dotto Winery by their executive winery chef, Chef Joshua Schwartz, lately of the French Laundry and Bouchon. Chef Schwartz has also served as Private Dining Chef at Thomas Keller’s Per Se in New York City. This tour appeals to wine aficionados, foodies, architects, preservationists, historians and cultural travelers. $425 per person includes winery tastings and tours, transportation, and lunches.
