March is that in-between month when the weather can still be like winter, or surprise us and tease us toward summer. Regardless of the elements outside, I am always thrilled to unearth a new adventure, whether it is a winery off the beaten path, a new eatery or a new hiking trail. On this past Presidents Day the sun was out, but the temperatures were brisk, putting our attempt to ride an electric scooter for the first time in question—but it was a holiday and my guy, Tom, had a rare day off. We added extra layers and met up with Jason and Kim Rafael, owners of the new NVR Adventures. I get to experience a lot in this Valley, and of course I have seen hundreds of fields of mustard, but something magical happened that day. The mustard engulfed us from all sides and we were able to feel, smell and absorb one of Napa Valley’s iconic scenes that are only visible for two months while the leaves are down. Yes, one can experience the mustard walking by or riding a bike, but the scooter made it effortless, made us giddy, and we were able to share a few hours with one of the coolest couples in Napa. Whether you live here or are visiting, a must-do in Napa in March is to enjoy the mustard. Bring a picnic and share the experience with someone who brings joy to your life. Speaking of magical, I was honored to attend a special reception announcing the “Transition” of the old Lincoln Theater into the exciting new Napa Valley Performing Arts Center at Lincoln Theater, slated to reopen on March 23. The duo have a keen eye for design and completely renovated an East Napa home originally built for Peter and Vernice Gasser. Their warm hearts and inviting personalities are reflected in their fresh yet elegant home style. Take a sneak peak into this year’s lineup of stunning homes.
