We are pleased to announce the opening of our new Herman Family Pavilion at Queen of the Valley Medical Center. Here, patients who require the most sophisticated care available in our region receive more rapid access to expert diagnosis and treatment, with greater comfort and privacy. Patients benefit from: • The area’s most advanced surgical suite for heart and vascular patients. • Expanded ICU and surgical services. • Enhanced diagnostic and imaging equipment. • The North Bay’s only hospital to be Gold LEED certified with an environmentally conscious design. thequeen.org FIRST IN THE REGION FOR CARDIAC SURGERY. The Hubbard Hybrid Surgical Suite sets the bar for advanced heart and vascular surgeries in the region. Robotic 3-D imaging technology allows doctors to precisely assess and measure a clogged artery’s diameter as well as the degree of narrowing. This precise imaging helps some patients avoid riskier open heart surgery to repair blocked arteries. SMART ORs MAKE SURGERY BETTER. Six operating suites are outfitted with flat screen monitors and in-room camera systems for remote communication between physicians and their colleagues. The rooms are made with robust steel framing designed to remain in operation in the event of an earthquake and minimize the issue of vibration during sensitive operating procedures. INTENSIVE CARE INTERTWINED WITH TECHNOLOGY AND COMPASSION. Twenty private rooms in the Marjorie Mondavi Center for Intensive Care are spacious, filled with ambient light and designed to encourage family-assisted patient care. Sleeper sofas and desks allow family and loved ones to remain in the room around-theclock. This evidence-based design helps assure the best possible outcomes for patients. A HEALING TOUCH. The Kenzo Healing Garden, designed by noted California landscape architect Jack Chandler, provides a healing environment and place of respite. The garden, which is open to the public, offers large natural stones, water and native flora. The centerpiece of the garden is a water feature designed to demonstrate the strong bond between the Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange and the Napa Valley community.
