publisher’s note Welcome to Napa Valley Life Magazine’s 13th Annual Intriguing Napa Valley residents and places worth getting to know. This is by far my favorite issue of the year because I’m a storyteller, and learning and sharing what makes each individual who they are is the main motivator for me to do this issue. Though it’s difficult for me to limit the amount of words for each honoree, because there is always so much to say. This year, we cut down on the number of recipients to be able to add a bit more about each person. This year our cover honors an intriguing partnership between a man who has a long history in the wine business and his young protégé who is taking Luna Wines to the next level with his outside the box approach to the wine business. Yes, we could have featured several wineries who are worthy of an intriguing honor, but I personally appreciated the dynamics between these two men. Another favorite of mine is Moira Johnston Block who has done so much for the Napa River. As an outdoor enthusiast myself, I appreciate how much the river has come alive because of Block’s and several others’ effort. Then there are the boys of the Napa Valley events. I love all three of these guys with their own unique talents, personalities and extra pizzazz that brings a special touch to each private and public goings-on happening here in the Valley. Musically, I was blown away by the talents of the young Ari Eisenberg and the compassion for our community by the local band, Silverado Pickups. To find out more who wowed us, turn to page 14. As we start the New Year, NVL is adding new features to the magazine, including “Toasts and Tastes,” “Local Juice,” and “Bar Bites.” I would love your feedback on what you want to see as we move more forward.
