Mercedes and Fabian, along with their daughter Carolina and extended family members, opened Montecristi Panama Hats on the second floor of V Marketplace just over a year ago, and their popularity has taken off. Mercedes Anda is from Guayaquil, Ecuador. Her lifelong inclination and interest has been towards the arts (store decorating, design), as well as traveling to different countries to discover their tastes, cultures, and lifestyles. With Montecristi Panama Hats, she saw beyond the sales to the beautiful art of creating these masterpieces, and wanted to bring the hats to the Napa Valley. “We are very proud to show customers the hats from Monetcristi,” says Mercedes, “as well as Andean products like ponchos, capes, scarves, and, from Peru, luxurious and soft alapaca products.” They also carry other fine products of Ecuador including scarves, sandals and handbags. Don’t miss their beautiful handmade shawls, blankets and slippers for winter. Mercedes also has discovered beautiful jewelry from artisans living from Yountville to South American and to Europe, all of which is exclusive in the valley to her shop. All are one-of-a-kind pieces due to the different stones, metals, gems used, and all at very affordable prices.
