Ayana K. Young -4- WCCUSD School Board Member I want to make WCCUSD the Destination District. Potential residents will be excited to move to our district because they will be confident that their child or children will get the education needed to ensure a future of success. How do we become the Destination District? • Fiscal Responsibility • We change our approach in educating our students form remedial approach to a holistic superior approach. • We ensure all children in the district receive a quality education and are put in a position to reach their full potential. • Math and Science are made priorities as well as the Arts, which support Math and Science. • Reading and Comprehension will be taught and learned by the Socratic Method in order foster a love for Reading. The board needs geographical diversity; growing up and working in Pinole, as well as living in Hercules makes me the best candidate to finally bring the district together. I’m Ayana Kirkland Young, a wife, a mother of 7 and an attorney. I grew up in Pinole and live in Hercules. I’m not a Politician but a concerned parent. I’m running for office because I have a vested interest in the success of this district and want to help ensure that all students obtain the best education possible to prepare them for the future. My platform: 1. Raise academic achievement for all. 2. Raise our standards and expect the highest achievement from each student. 3. Create art and other extra-curricular programs that will inspire a love for learning. There is definitely work to be done, and I will serve at the pleasure of the students and this community!
