to these clients.” Homeowners themselves are often working alongside RTEBN, as well as neighbors and family members. “The camaraderie that builds during the workday can be quite amazing,” she adds. “There’s a spirit of friendship, community, and sheer joy that comes out of these events that is just beautiful to experience.” RTEBN recently held a series of work events that were designed to benefit the Veteran’s Resource Program in Richmond. The scope of the work that was done included outdoor beautification that added an outdoor storage shed, yard clearing, and additional fencing. Indoor work ranged from revamping their laundry room to providing a fresh new look to their kitchen. Of those that helped make this possible by offering their labor efforts, a large group of skilled volunteers came from Cherne Construction, another large group of volunteers from the Contra Costa Association of Realtors, financial support via HD gifts cards and more volunteers was gifted by Home Depot, and Sears was a major donor for the project. To top it all off, the veterans who live at the facility were invited to contribute their own individual artistry for an outdoor mural. It takes a village to maintain a village. RTEBN is one of many amazing organizations that bring the community together for a wonderful purpose. Keep in mind, this “community” that we’re always talking about includes you! And RTEBN is in search for volunteers. They could never have done what they’ve done all these years without the support of their community, which includes donations from individuals, corporations, private foundations and small business owners, as well as the time donated from about 1,000 volunteers. So if you’ve got the time, or the money, visit rtebn.org or just give them a call at (510) 644-8979 to get involved. RTEBN is part of a national Rebuilding Together organization. That’s right, this is happening all over the country! As well as right next door. Local Rebuilding Together chapters can also be found in Oakland, Vallejo, and all over the Bay Area. If you’d like to be a part of these ongoing great deeds, either call up RTEBN or find the closest chapter to you by clicking on “Find Your Local Affiliate” under the “Our Network” tab via the national website at togetherwetransform.org. Love thy neighbor!
