Getting to Know 2 01 6 Richmond Early Summer Events Over 200,000 people are visitors to Richmond attractions and events annually whether recreating at Ford Point, on the Shipyard Trail, the scenic Bay Trail, or historic Point Richmond. Revitalization is underway throughout the city and events and attractions are easily accessed by intermodal transit including BART near Richmond’s Main Street District. “Events showcase the creative and artistic element, the camaraderie and spirit. You can enjoy music, art, history all summer long” according to Beth Javens, Executive Director Richmond Convention and Visitor Bureau. June Point Music Summer Music Festivals The 15th annual summer concert season is officially here. Concerts are held on the second Friday of each month, June through September, from 5:30 pm to 7:45 pm. PRM’s outdoor concert venue is located at the corner of Park Place and Washington Avenue in historic downtown Point Richmond. pointrichmondmusic.com. 11: Richmond Main Street: Healthy Village Festival Free admission. Richmond Main St. collaborates with local community groups and nonprofits, caterers and businesses to provide this community event. Community Green Space @ Harbour Way & Macdonald Avenue. 18: Richmond Juneteenth Parade & Festival Watch the parade route through four Richmond Neighborhood Communities. The Family Festival will be located at Nicholl Park with entertainment, food, contests, children’s activities, and fun. A juried arts and crafts fair, 200 booths of original work in all media, festive food, entertainment. Free parking, bike parking, free Bart shuttle from Richmond station. Visit kpfa.org for more information. 19: Marina Bay Running Festival: Half Marathon, 10K, 5K & “Run Like A Girl” (girls race) 1mile Starting and finishing at the Craneway Pavilion, The Marina Bay Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K is more than a race, it is an awe-inspiring experience and journey through history. marinabayhalfmarathon.com. July 3: Independence Eve with the Oakland East Bay Symphony Celebrate the Fourth a day early with the 8th Annual Independence Eve featuring a performance by the Oakland East Bay Symphony and guest artists. Promptly following the free concert will be a spectacular fireworks display. Located at the Craneway Pavilion, the concert will begin at 6:30 p.m. with fireworks to follow.
