Realtors to the Rescue, 2015 On November 19, 2015, the Contra Costa Association of Realtors hosted their 34th Annual “Realtors to the Rescue” event at the Mira Vista Country Club in El Cerrito. More than 130 local real estate professionals, including realtors and representatives of mortgage, title and home inspection companies, came together for prime rib, pasta and holiday celebration. But the real focus was on fundraising for Richmond’s Bay Area Rescue Mission. The evening’s tickets sales, auction and raffle raised over $10,000, a big leap from the inaugural event in 1982. That year realtors Lynda Bartels and Bill Frank produced “Realtors to the Rescue” at the Elks Club in El Sobrante, about 40 people attended, and the amount raised was $1,800. Carolyn Dopp of Security Pacific Real Estate in Richmond chaired this year’s event with a team of volunteers from throughout Contra Costa County. One auction bidder went home with a football autographed by 49er Dwight Clark. Another bought a weeklong stay for four at a condo in Hawaii. The biggest winner of the night was the Bay Area Rescue Mission. BARM will use the funds to help provide 1.45 million meals per year, and to house, feed and retrain men and women in need.
