Time to preserve your videos and Debbie Ojeda, Owner ojedahouse@comcast.net august 2015 MARKETPLACEcontrac osta .com 7 Some things never change, but I guess the month of August isn’t one of them. Back in day, the “dog days” of summer peaked in August. It was a month of weekend picnics, trips to the beach and, some years, a later than usual extended vacation. Things are a little different now. My grandchildren are back in the classroom mid-month (my oldest starts his senior of high school), and with all the preparation Deborah ludlow Stevens that involves, August looks a lot like what used to be September. When it seems like we should be putting the finishing touches on a leisurely summer, suddenly we’re in Fall mode, running around in preparation for the busy season ahead. Back new to a regular rhythm and routine. I guess it’s always good to get a head start on what’s important, but so is enjoying the summer while it’s here. Things may change, but that’s still my plan. Enjoy the last bit of summer! Deborah When I went to see Roberta Quan to pick up photos for this month’s issue, I expected a quick , “Hi, nice to meet you,” and then on my way. But I suspect it rarely works that way with Roberta. She invited me into her beautiful Tara Hills home, taking time to get to know me and talk about her life and values. The story of her support for our community and the YMCA is told on page 16. What an amazing woman she is. Roberta is, of course, not alone in working John Strohmeier to enhance the quality of life here, as you’ll read about elsewhere in the issue. Peter Margolis of West County Lego Robotics and Eric Aaholm of YES are two more of the many individuals who are changing local lives for the better. Their stories are inspiring.
